The Active Rotherham Team is based at Herringthorpe Athletics Stadium.

Herringthorpe Stadium provides a superb training and competition venue for a wide range of sports, activities and events catering for people of all ages and abilities:

Athletics facilities

  • Track: 8 lane track, steeple chase, hurdles
  • Field: hammer, discus, javelin, shot, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault

Track Certification: Class 1 - valid until 31 May 2015

General facilities

  • full size football pitch (restricted usage)
  • full size rugby pitch (restricted usage)
  • small meeting room (up to 12 people)
  • large meeting room (up to 25 people)
  • male and female changing with showers and lockers available
  • floodlights
  • seating (grass banks only)
  • free car parking

Opening times

  • Monday 5pm tp 9pm* (excluding Bank Holiday mondays - we are closed)
  • Tuesday 5pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 5pm to 9pm
  • Thursday 5pm to 9pm
  • Saturday 9am to 12noon

The stadium is available at other times for private bookings.

(Monday & Wednesday are Rotherham Harrier AC nights).

The stadium is on Middle Lane South, around half a mile from Rotherham town centre.

If travelling by car, you can reach us from junctions 33, 34, or 35 of the M1, or junction 1 of the M18.

There is a large free car park at the front of the stadium on Middle Lane South.

The nearest train station, taxi ranks and bus station are in the town centre. There are bus stops close to the stadium on Middle Lane South and Wickersley Road.

More about the stadium

The stadium is set within a large area of playing fields regularly used by the local community for football, cricket, rugby, walking and general play.

The stadium has a running track, field events areas and a football/rugby pitch. One of the original buildings, the pavilion, has been improved over recent months and now has its own training room suitable for courses and meetings.

About the team

Herringthorpe Stadium has three staff experienced in the provision of athletics and other sporting activities and events.

The team always offers customers a warm welcome and does their best to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience.
